Description

A Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print on paper, depicting a bijin (beautiful woman) in a classical style. The composition features a woman in a kimono and an elaborate hairstyle, holding a slender pipe-like object to her mouth, against a prominent red background. In the upper right, a tallcase clock with Roman numerals I-XII is visible, while a large circular object with text and a floral design floats in the upper left. Various Japanese characters are present in multiple vertical cartouches and on the circular object, accompanied by several red seal marks.

Condition report:

Visible age-related fading of colors, notably the prominent red pigment. Overall paper toning consistent with an antique print.
