Description

A Japanese three-panel ukiyo-e woodblock print, likely dating from the late Edo or Meiji period. Rendered on paper with vibrant multi-color pigments, the central image depicts a procession of elaborately dressed women, likely courtesans, beneath blossoming cherry trees in a street lined with buildings and lanterns. Vertical columns of Japanese characters are present on the upper right of the right panel and the lower left of the left panel, the latter likely serving as a signature or publisher’s mark. The reverse of the panels shows faint red pigment offsets and general age-related toning.

Condition report:

Fair to good condition. Colors are generally well-preserved. Minor signs of paper toning and handling wear consistent with age. Faint red pigment offsets visible on the reverse of the panels.
