Description

A Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock print, executed on paper with multicolored inks. The vertical composition is divided into two main registers. The upper register depicts a landscape featuring hills, trees, a thatched-roof building, and a winding path or waterway. The lower, larger register presents two figures: an older, long-haired male figure in a patterned dark blue robe holding a staff and a small scroll-like object, standing opposite a kneeling figure dressed in elaborate armor, with a helmet resting on the ground beside them. The print features extensive Japanese text in multiple blocks and red cartouches, including a large vertical title block in the upper right, another vertical cartouche in the lower left, and various artist or publisher seals near the bottom left corner.

Condition report:

Overall paper toning and some probable color fading consistent with age. The print appears largely intact with minor surface wear.
