Description

A Japanese short sword (tantō) comprising a steel blade, a hilt featuring black wrapping, and a red, ribbed lacquered wood scabbard with a black transition piece and a metal suspension ring. The lot is accompanied by a yellow paper ‘鑑定書’ (Kanteisho) or authentication certificate. The certificate features extensive printed Japanese text, including ‘短刀’ (tantō), red seals, and a unique serial number (No 3034141). It displays a photograph of a sword tang matching the item and bears dates such as Reiwa 6 (2024) and Showa 27 (1952), along with names of organizations including the ‘日本美術刀剣保存協会’ (Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword) and ‘大阪府教育委員会’ (Osaka Prefecture Board of Education).
