Description

This lot comprises two Royal Mail First Day Covers and an accompanying informational insert, all made of paper. The first First Day Cover features a strip of four black and white stamps depicting HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (1921-2021), canceled with “FIRST DAY OF ISSUE – WINDSOR” postmarks dated 24.6.2021. The cover is inscribed “PRINCE PHILIP… A CONSTANT STRENGTH AND GUIDE” attributed to HM The Queen. The second First Day Cover displays a strip of four black and white stamps portraying HM Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), also bearing “FIRST DAY OF ISSUE – WINDSOR” postmarks and various denominations including £1.85, £2.55, 1st, and 2nd class. The separate cream-colored paper insert, titled “IN MEMORIAM HRH THE PRINCE PHILIP, DUKE OF EDINBURGH (1921-2021)”, includes a photograph of Prince Philip in uniform and biographical text.
