Lot 208:
Description
A pair of Royal Mail philatelic-style commemorative cards, each encased in a clear plastic sleeve within a light-beige card. The first card features a full-color photographic image of Edinburgh Castle, a historic stone fortress, under a partly cloudy sky, with “Edinburgh Castle” printed below. The second card presents a detailed, full-color illustration of The Sovereign’s Sceptre with Cross, an ornate, jewel-encrusted scepter, featuring a large central diamond, an amethyst orb, a cross set with emeralds and diamonds, and other precious stones like rubies and sapphires, identified by the vertical text “The Sovereign’s Sceptre with Cross” along its left side. Both items bear a white silhouette of Queen Elizabeth II and the mark “1ST” in the upper right, indicative of their Royal Mail origin and commemorative nature.
