Description
Victoria (1837-1901), silver Shilling, 1842, variety with the last D on obverse struck over an F, second young head left, legend VICTORIA DEI GRATIA BRITANNIAR: REG: F: D:, the last D struck over an F, toothed border around rim both sides, rev. inverted die axis, ONE / SHILLING in two lines at centre of crowned laurel and oak wreath, date below, edge milled, 5.66g (cf.Bull 2987; cf.Davies 856; cf.ESC 1288; S.3904). Toned, extremely fine, the discovery piece as written up in Coin News Magazine December 2009 by Christopher Tasker, still the only example the cataloguer has seen, extremely rare.

The Latin legend translates on obverse as Victoria by the Grace of God, Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith.
