g George IV (1820-30), gold Sovereign, 1822, first laureate head left, B.P. below neck for Benedetto Pistrucci, legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F:D:, rev. die axis slightly off-centre, St George and dragon right, date in exergue, B.P. to upper right of exergue for designer and engraver Benedetto Pistrucci, raised WWP on ground line below lance for Master of the Mint William Wellesley Pole, 7.97g (Bentley 13; Hill 6; Bull EGC 961; M.C.E. 472; S.3800). Toned, though once cleaned with tooled fields, old scratch smoothed on cheek, another area of scratches between horse front legs, otherwise very fine.

Calendar year mintage 5,356,787.The Latin legend translates to on obverse George IIII by the Grace of God, King of the Britons, Defender of the Faith.
