Description
A professionally printed Special Edition commemorative card, produced in the late 20th century to honour the service of the Vickers Wellington bomber and the personnel of No. 22 Operational Training Unit (OTU) of the Royal Air Force. The card features a hand-signed ink signature by Flight Lieutenant J.O. Jeff Lancaster, DFC. Lancaster was a distinguished Second World War veteran who flew Wellingtons during the conflict and later became a renowned test pilot. He is historically significant as the first pilot to successfully use a Martin-Baker ejection seat in an emergency, an event that occurred in 1949 while he was testing an Armstrong Whitworth A.W.52.
