Description

This is a Special Edition commemorative card dedicated to the Handley Page Halifax heavy bomber, as operated by No. 10 Squadron, Royal Air Force. The card features the squadron motto, To hit the mark, and has been personally hand-signed in black ink by RAF veteran Warrant Officer Rex Statham. No. 10 Squadron holds a distinguished place in RAF history as the first unit to be equipped with the Halifax in late 1940, subsequently serving as a backbone of the Bomber Command offensive against occupied Europe. Warrant Officer Statham served as aircrew on the Halifax during the Second World War. Such signed ephemera from veteran airmen are highly sought after by collectors of aviation history and those specialising in the history of the strategic bombing campaign.
