Description

This lot features a Special Edition commemorative card dedicated to the Handley Page Halifax heavy bomber and its operational service with No. 51 Squadron, Royal Air Force. The card is personally signed in ink by Warrant Officer R.H. Pickford, a veteran who flew the Halifax with the squadron in the European Theatre of Operations during the Second World War. No. 51 Squadron was a prominent unit within No. 4 Group, Bomber Command, and was famously based at RAF Snaith during the height of the air campaign. The card displays the squadron motto, Swift and sure, and serves as a significant piece of commemorative ephemera linking the collector to the aircrews of Bomber Command. These cards were often produced in limited numbers to honour the service of veteran airmen and are sought after by collectors of RAF militaria and aviation history.

Condition report:

The card is in excellent condition, appearing crisp and clean. There is no evidence of foxing, staining, or age-related discolouration to the paper. The signature of Warrant Officer Pickford is bold, clear, and has not suffered from fading. The item has been well-preserved and is currently housed in a protective plastic sleeve.
