Description
This is a commemorative Special Edition signature card produced in the late 20th or early 21st century to honour the service of the Royal Air Force No. 156 Squadron. The card features the squadron’s motto, We light the way, and commemorates their operations using the Avro Lancaster heavy bomber. As part of the elite Pathfinder Force (PFF), No. 156 Squadron was responsible for the hazardous task of marking targets for the main bomber stream during the European campaign. The card is hand-signed in pencil by Flight Lieutenant D.W. Briggs, DFC, a decorated veteran who served with the unit. Transcription of printed text: AVRO LANCASTER, No. 156 Squadron, Royal Air Force, We light the way, Flight Lieutenant D.W. Briggs DFC. A further note at the bottom confirms the authenticity of the signature by a veteran who flew in the Avro Lancaster while serving with No 156 PFF Squadron in Europe. Dimensions: 148mm x 210mm.

The item is in near-mint condition. The white cardstock is bright and clean with no signs of yellowing, foxing, or age-related discolouration. The edges are sharp and the corners remain crisp. There are no visible tears, folds, or surface marks. The item has been well-preserved within a protective plastic sleeve.
