Description
This item is a special edition commemorative card hand-signed by Lieutenant Commander Brian Ellis, Royal Navy. The card is dedicated to the Hawker Sea Fury and No. 802 Squadron, Fleet Air Arm, and features the squadron motto First to Strike. Lieutenant Commander Ellis was a noted pilot with 802 Naval Air Squadron during the Korean War. While operating from the Colossus-class light fleet carrier HMS Ocean, the squadron gained fame for its actions on 9 August 1952. During this engagement, Sea Furies successfully downed a North Korean MiG-15 jet fighter, marking one of the few instances where a piston-engined aircraft defeated a jet-powered opponent in combat. The card is printed on high-quality white card stock with green ink for the primary headings and a double-line black border. It includes a printed attribution to the signatory and a footer confirming the authenticity of the veteran’s signature.
