Lot 145:
Description
A modern commemorative Special Edition card dedicated to the Avro Lancaster heavy bomber and the operational history of No. 12 Squadron, Royal Air Force. The document is hand-signed in the centre by Warrant Officer J. Watson, DFM, a veteran aircrew member who flew sorties over occupied Europe during the Second World War. No. 12 Squadron, which adopted the motto Leads the field, was a key element of RAF Bomber Command, famously operating Lancasters from their base at RAF Wickenby. The card identifies the signatory as a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Medal, an award for acts of valour, courage, or devotion to duty whilst flying in active operations against the enemy. This piece was specifically produced for the aviation heritage market to document and preserve the signatures of the dwindling number of Bomber Command veterans. The card is printed on heavy white cardstock with a formal blue border. Dimensions: Approximately 210mm x 148mm.
Condition report:
The item is in excellent condition, showing no signs of age-related wear or handling. The signature is bold and remains sharp with no evidence of UV fading. The cardstock is clean, free from foxing, creases, or adhesive residue. It is presented in a contemporary Arpan clear plastic protective sleeve.
