Description

A significant collection of commemorative Special Edition cards dedicated to the Royal Air Force, specifically focusing on the Avro Lancaster heavy bomber and the history of No. 57 Squadron. The lead item is a printed white cardstock document featuring the squadron motto, I changed my body not my spirit, which is the English translation of the Latin Corpus non animum mutavi. This card is personally hand-signed in ink by Flight Lieutenant M. Stoneman, a veteran who served with No. 57 Squadron during the European campaign of the Second World War. No. 57 Squadron was a key component of Bomber Command, operating the Lancaster from bases including RAF Scampton and RAF East Kirkby. The collection includes several additional cards of a similar nature, all housed in protective sleeves. These items were typically produced in limited runs for veteran associations or commemorative events during the late 20th century. Measurements: 210mm x 148mm.

Condition report:

The collection is in excellent, well-preserved condition. The cardstock retains its original white colour with no signs of foxing or age-related browning. The signature of Flight Lieutenant Stoneman is crisp, dark, and shows no signs of fading. The blue printed borders are sharp and the edges of the cards remain crisp. The items have been stored in archival-quality plastic sleeves, preventing surface wear or handling marks.
