This is a modern commemorative Special Edition card dedicated to the Avro Lancaster heavy bomber and No. 630 Squadron of the Royal Air Force. The card is hand-signed in black ink by Flight Lieutenant Alan Payne, DFC, a veteran who served with the squadron in Europe during the Second World War. No. 630 Squadron was famously based at RAF East Kirkby and operated Lancaster bombers as part of No. 5 Group. The card features the squadron motto, Death by night, and serves as a historical tribute to the aircrews of Bomber Command. Transcription of the face: AVRO LANCASTER, No. 630 Squadron Royal Air Force, Death by night, Alan Payne, Flight Lieutenant A. Payne DFC. The lower text states: This Special Edition card has been personally signed by a Veteran who flew in the Avro Lancaster while serving with No. 630 Squadron in Europe. Dimensions: 148mm x 210mm.

The item is in excellent, near-mint condition. The cardstock remains bright white with no evidence of foxing, yellowing, or age-related staining. The edges are sharp, and there are no visible tears, creases, or folds. It is currently preserved in a clear plastic Ryman brand protective sleeve.
