Description

A modern Special Edition commemorative card produced to honour the service and legacy of aircrews within the Royal Air Force Bomber Command during the Second World War. This piece specifically memorialises the Avro Lancaster heavy bomber and the distinguished No. 75 (New Zealand) Squadron. The card features the squadron motto, “For ever and ever be strong,” which is the English translation of the Maori “Ake Ake Kia Kaha.” It is hand-signed in graphite pencil by veteran Warrant Officer R. Brown, who served as an airman with No. 75 (NZ) Squadron during operations over occupied Europe. No. 75 (NZ) Squadron holds a significant place in military history as the first Commonwealth squadron formed within Bomber Command, eventually flying more sorties and dropping more bomb tonnage than any other heavy bomber squadron in the RAF. The card is printed on high-quality white cardstock with blue decorative borders and typography. Measurements: 148mm x 210mm.

Condition report:

The item is in excellent, near-mint condition. The cardstock remains bright and crisp with no evidence of foxing, yellowing, or corner wear. The pencil signature is clear, bold, and shows no signs of smudging or fading. The piece has been well-preserved within a clear plastic protective sleeve. This is a modern commemorative item and is not a period-correct 1940s document, but rather a verified veteran-signed memorial piece.
