Description

This is a Special Edition commemorative card dedicated to the Avro Lancaster bomber and the service of No. 166 Squadron of the Royal Air Force. The card features the squadron motto, Tenacity, and is hand-signed in the centre by veteran Warrant Officer Syd Marshall (S. Marshall) in pencil. No. 166 Squadron was a significant heavy bomber unit during the Second World War, operating out of RAF Kirmington as part of No. 1 Group Bomber Command. These cards were typically produced in limited numbers for collectors and historical societies during the late 20th or early 21st century to honour the surviving members of Bomber Command. The printed text reads: AVRO LANCASTER, No. 166 Squadron, Royal Air Force, Tenacity, Warrant Officer S. Marshall. A footer note confirms the signature is from a veteran who flew the aircraft in the European theatre. 125mm x 175mm.

Condition report:

The card is in excellent, near-mint condition. The white cardstock remains bright with no evidence of toning, foxing, or age-related discolouration. There are no tears, creases, or folds present. The dark blue printed text and the pencil signature are sharp and well-preserved. The item is currently housed in a clear plastic protective sleeve.
