Description

A Royal Air Force commemorative Special Edition card dedicated to the Avro Lancaster and the history of No. 97 (Straits Settlements) Squadron. The card is hand-signed in blue ink by Warrant Officer P.J. (James) Copus, who served as a mid-upper gunner on Lancaster bombers during the Second World War. No. 97 Squadron was a premier unit within the Pathfinder Force (PFF), No. 8 Group, responsible for the dangerous task of marking targets for Bomber Command’s main force. The card displays the squadron’s motto, Achieve your aim, and provides a direct link to the elite Pathfinder crews who spearheaded the Allied strategic bombing campaign over Europe.

Condition report:

The card is in excellent, near-mint condition. There are no signs of foxing, staining, or creasing to the card stock. The signature is bold, clear, and shows no signs of ink fading. The item is well-preserved within a multi-punched plastic display sleeve.
