Description

A Special Edition commemorative card dedicated to the Avro Lancaster and the operational history of No. 156 Squadron, Royal Air Force. No. 156 Squadron was one of the original units of the elite Pathfinder Force (PFF), tasked with the high-risk role of navigating to and marking targets for the main bomber stream over occupied Europe. The card features the printed squadron motto, We light the way, and is personally hand-signed in black ink by Warrant Officer Rupert Noye, DFC. The inclusion of the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) post-nominal letters indicates a significant gallantry award for acts of valour, courage, or devotion to duty whilst flying in active operations against the enemy. This item serves as a poignant piece of aviation ephemera relating to RAF Bomber Command and the specialised role of the Pathfinders during the Second World War.

Condition report:

The card is in excellent, near-mint condition with clean, crisp edges and no visible foxing or discolouration. The signature remains bold and clear, showing no signs of fading. The item is currently housed in a standard clear plastic protective sleeve for preservation.
