Description

A Royal Air Force Special Edition commemorative autograph card dedicated to the Supermarine Spitfire and No. 16 Squadron. The card features printed text in navy blue, including the squadron’s English translation motto: Hidden things are revealed (Operta Aperta). The card is personally hand-signed in black ink by Flight Lieutenant J. Jimmy Taylor. During the Second World War, No. 16 Squadron functioned as a premier photo-reconnaissance unit, operating various marks of the Spitfire, most notably the PR Mk XI, on critical intelligence-gathering missions over occupied Europe. The printed text at the base confirms the signatory as a veteran who flew Spitfires with the unit in the European theatre. This item represents a tangible link to the specialised reconnaissance pilots of the RAF.

Condition report:

The card is in excellent, as-issued condition with clean edges and no visible foxing or creasing. The signature remains bold, clear, and well-preserved. It is housed in a protective clear plastic sleeve.
