Description

A Special Edition commemorative card dedicated to the Hawker Hurricane, personally autographed in black ink by Flight Lieutenant Frank William Thomas Davis. The card is printed with green-toned typography and features a double-line border. It includes the designation for No. 136 Squadron Royal Air Force along with the unit motto Nothing is stronger. Marginalia at the base of the card confirms that this edition was personally signed by a veteran who flew the Hawker Hurricane during service in South East Asia. No. 136 Squadron, nicknamed The Woodpeckers, was a significant fighter unit within the South East Asian Theatre (SEAC), participating in the defence of India and the subsequent Burma campaign. Flight Lieutenant Davis is a documented veteran of these operations. This item serves as a direct link to the specialised fighter operations of the RAF’s Forgotten Army in the Far East.

Condition report:

The card is in excellent, as-new condition, showing no evidence of foxing, creasing, or light-fading. The printed text and green-toned borders are sharp and well-preserved. The signature of Flight Lieutenant Davis is bold, clear, and exhibits no signs of ink degradation. The item is currently housed in a clear protective plastic sleeve for preservation.
