Description

A special edition Royal Air Force commemorative autograph card dedicated to the De Havilland Mosquito, the legendary “Wooden Wonder” of the Second World War. The card is personally hand-signed in black ink by Flight Lieutenant R. (Reg) Davey. The printed text at the base confirms Flt Lt Davey’s service as a veteran pilot or navigator who flew the Mosquito with No. 139 (Jamaica) Squadron during operations in Europe. No. 139 Squadron was a premier unit within the RAF’s elite No. 8 Group Pathfinder Force, tasked with high-speed precision daylight bombing and the hazardous role of night-time target marking. The squadron holds additional historical significance as a Commonwealth “gift” unit, with its establishment and aircraft funded by the people of Jamaica. The card features the squadron’s official motto, “We destroy at will,” and is presented with a formal blue double-border design.
