Description

This lot comprises a special edition commemorative card personally signed by Flight Lieutenant (Sir) Archibald Thomas Archie Lamb, KBE, CMG, DFC. The card honours the service of the Hawker Typhoon aircraft and the personnel of No. 184 Squadron, Royal Air Force, during the Second World War in Europe. The printed text includes the squadron motto Nothing impenetrable and confirms the signatory as a veteran who flew the Typhoon while serving in the European theatre. Archie Lamb (1921–2010) was a distinguished pilot who earned the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) for his actions with No. 184 Squadron, which specialised in hazardous ground-attack missions over Northwest Europe following the D-Day landings. Following his military service, Lamb enjoyed a prominent career in the Diplomatic Service, eventually serving as the British Ambassador to Kuwait and Norway and receiving a knighthood (KBE).
