Description

This is a “Special Edition” commemorative aviation card dedicated to the Hawker Hurricane and No. 184 Squadron of the Royal Air Force. The card features the squadron motto, “Nothing impenetrable,” and is personally hand-signed in black ink by Flight Lieutenant (later Sir) Albert Thomas Lamb, KBE, CMG, DFC (1921–2019). Sir Albert was a distinguished pilot during the Second World War, flying ground-attack sorties in both Hawker Hurricanes and Typhoons over North-West Europe. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) in 1945 for his gallantry and devotion to duty. Following his military service, he transitioned to a highly successful career within the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, eventually serving as the British Ambassador to Kuwait and Norway. This item represents a significant piece of RAF ephemera, linking a specific combat unit to a decorated veteran and notable British diplomat.
