Description

A special edition commemorative ephemera card dedicated to the Hawker Hurricane and the operations of No. 184 Squadron, Royal Air Force. The card is hand-signed in blue ink by Flying Officer Leonard Len Thorpe, recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC). No. 184 Squadron was a specialised ground-attack unit established in late 1942, famously equipped with the Hurricane Mk. IID tank busters armed with 40mm Vickers S guns, and later the Mk. IV. Thorpe served with the unit during the European theatre of operations. The card features the squadron motto Nothing impenetrable and printed biographical details confirming his service. Such items signed by decorated ground-attack pilots are of particular interest to aviation historians and collectors of Second World War RAF memorabilia.

Condition report:

The card is in excellent condition, appearing as new with no evidence of foxing, staining, or edge wear. The signature is bold and remains vibrant without fading. Currently preserved in a protective clear plastic sleeve.
