Description

A special edition commemorative card dedicated to the Hawker Hurricane, personally autographed by Wing Commander John Francis Durham “Tim” Elkington (1920–2019). Elkington was a distinguished member of “The Few,” having served with No. 1 Squadron during the Battle of Britain before being posted to the Far East. The card features the details of No. 67 Squadron, Royal Air Force, including the squadron motto, “No odds too great.” The lower portion contains a printed biography confirming Elkington’s service flying Hurricanes in the defence of India and during the Burma campaign. This item represents a significant historical link between the aerial defence of the United Kingdom and the often-overlooked air operations of the “Forgotten Army” in the China-Burma-India Theatre. Autographs from Battle of Britain veterans remain highly sought after by collectors of RAF and aviation memorabilia.

Condition report:

The card is in excellent, near-mint condition. The edges remain crisp and the card stock shows no signs of foxing, staining, or age-related discolouration. The signature, located to the centre, is executed in bold black ink and remains dark and unfaded. The item is currently housed in a protective clear plastic sleeve.
