Description
This is a commemorative autograph card produced as a special edition to honour the pilots of the Merchant Ship Fighter Unit (MSFU) during the Second World War. The card features the original hand-signed signature of Wing Commander J.F.D. Tim Elkington (1920-2019) in ink. Elkington was a notable member of the Royal Air Force who fought in the Battle of Britain and later served with the MSFU, operating Hurricanes launched via catapult from merchant vessels to defend convoys against long-range enemy aircraft. The card is printed on white cardstock with a decorative double-line border. Printed text reads: HAWKER HURRICANE Merchant Ship Fighter Unit. This Special Edition card has been personally signed by a Veteran who flew the Hawker Hurricane while serving with the Merchant Ship Fighter Unit during the Second World War. Wing Commander J.F.D. Condition report:
The card is in excellent, near-mint condition. The paper is clean and bright with no foxing, staining, or yellowing. The corners and edges are sharp and free from any bumps, tears, or creases. The signature is bold and has not suffered from fading. The item is currently housed in a protective plastic sleeve.
