Description
A Special Edition commemorative autograph card dedicated to the Vickers Wellington medium bomber, famously known as the Wimpy. The card features the insignia and motto of No. 9 Squadron, Royal Air Force, We fly by night (Per noctem volamus). This specific example is personally signed in black ink by Warrant Officer J.H. Kartz, a veteran who served with No. 9 Squadron in the European Theatre of Operations during the Second World War. No. 9 Squadron was a premier heavy bomber unit within RAF Bomber Command, being one of the first to receive the Wellington and later famously operating the Lancaster.
