Description

This is a commemorative Special Edition ephemera card dedicated to the Vickers Wellington medium bomber and the service of No. 70 Squadron, Royal Air Force. The card specifically honours the squadron’s involvement in the Italy Campaign during the Second World War. It features the squadron’s motto, Anywhere, printed in the centre. The piece is hand-signed in pencil by Warrant Officer S. Eustace, a recipient of the George Medal (GM), who served as a crew member on the Wellington. Eustace has also added a handwritten 70 Sq. annotation. These cards were typically produced in limited numbers for aviation enthusiasts and veterans’ organisations in the late 20th or early 21st century. The Vickers Wellington was a mainstay of RAF Bomber Command, notable for its geodetic airframe construction designed by Barnes Wallis.
